Dear colleagues!
March 2023 marked the 90th anniversary of the publication of the first issue of the then-monthly scientific geological journal Problems of Soviet Geology.
The journal was founded in March 1933. Initially its title was Problemy sovetskoi geologii (Problems of Soviet Geology). Academician Ivan M. Gubkin, one of the national geological survey’s founders, had initiated this monthly publication and was its first Editor-in-Chief. The journal was aimed at "focusing the theoretical thought in the field of geology and the directing of its maintenance tasks for the preparation of the mineral resource base of the industry".
The editorial board is proud of the team of our active authors. Leading scientists of the geological industry of almost all key scientific institutions and organizations, universities, mining companies, and geological expeditions of the Russian Federation cooperate with the journal. Our authors are both theoretical scientists and practical geologists. The journal discusses a wide range of issues of subsoil use, economics and conjuncture of mineral commodities, methods of forecasting, prospecting, and evaluation of ore deposits, comprehensive use of mineral raw materials, and exploration technologies. The geography of activity of our authors and the breadth of the research interests demonstrate the presence of a huge scientific, technical, and technological potential of engineering and working personnel in Russia.
Since 2007, the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia has included the journal Otechestvennaya Geologiya (ISSN 0869-7175) into the List of scientific publications in which the main scientific results should be published of dissertations for the degrees of Candidate of Science and of Doctor of Science (Earth and Environmental Sciences), and the journal has also become one of the peer-reviewed scientific periodicals listed in international abstract databases and citation systems. All the publications are transferred to the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU for inclusion into the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) system.
Today, Otechestvennaya Geologiya is one of the leading Russian scientific journals in the field of Earth sciences. The high quality of the published scientific materials, the decent design, and a modern approach to interaction with the readership guarantee the growth of interest in the journal and its demand.
Dear colleagues, we congratulate You on the anniversary of the scientific and technical journal Otechestvennaya Geologiya and invite You to continue our joint activities for the benefit of Russian science!
